Everyone may be identified as a "revolutionist" as a result of doing anomalous and different works at the times they live in; however, a true revolutionist can be verified by the fact that person is still remembered the same in the future timeframe as well. Zeki Müren; from the way he sang to the stage clothes he wore, from the podium he designed himself to reach the audience at the end of the ‘gazino’ to his state and movements on that podium, he was a revolutionist who would radically change the culture of a gazino. However, his greatest confrontation was not limited with these. For example, he would come out in front of a whole society that is firmly committed to custom and traditions, with an identity that they would never approve of, and he would get accepted himself into society with his gender identity that could not be confined to gender definitions. There was such a distinctive characteristic in his voice, those who listened to him would prefer to bow down before the power of his voice.
With his makeup, platform shoes and interesting stage clothes he named every single one of them separately, he would be held in high honor in the broad heart of the Turkish people, who were thought to be conservative. The only reason his audience could accept him as he was just because they saw him as their own son, and was to live as a confrontationist, and took this life with him wherever he went. That's why, among those who wanted to have the chance to meet with him for three-five minutes would be tycoon businessmen, big politicians, soldiers with authority and statesmen. That’s why he would appear in front of the statesmen of military origin as not only “the pasha of the hearts of the people” but also as a most naive but the most glittering state of himself. While the people who saluted those authoritarian pashas were soldiers and the commanders around them; the mind, compassion and love was saluting Zeki Müren, the pasha of the hearts of the people.
The source of his self-esteem was again arising from his respect for his listeners. The unconditional respect was creating the respect. Therefore, he would never be seen turning his back to his audience not even once on the stage because of his respect. The people would also never turn their backs on Zeki Müren and would embrace him as a self-son grown up on this land, and if he was heard on the radio not to disrespect, they would turn the radio up, and if they were listening to him at the gazino, they would leave the cutlery on the table not to make a noise to listen to him.
Zeki Müren had never signed with a wet signature on any agreement that he made through his entire life. He invented a saying called "Zeki Müren Promise" and kept every promise he made. The archaic holly books begin with “there was a promise in the beginning”, and Zeki Müren, who knew the sanctity of that promise, would not break any promise he made. At every moment of his life, he would only live as Zeki Müren and say goodbye to this metaphorical life as 'a lonely Zeki Müren'.
There were three military coups that Zeki Müren saw, and the pashas(generals) who performed the coup in the third one did not refrain from intervening in artists who would be on stages, what society would like and what they wouldn't like. At the time, the country's anomalous artists were banned from performing. Those who thought they could force everyone and impose their own truths on them, who were attempted to perform social engineering, could not think of banning Zeki Müren. He continued giving his concerts, meeting his loved ones, and in doing so, he was not even moving a hair of his eyebrows that had been taken care of carefully.
